It’s funny cause I was searching for XT 600 parts (mine is a 2KF model 1987), and it happens that I own too a CRKT M16-13SF knife, an awesome knife it’s like multi-tool! as you said solid and reliable, still opens nicely and so on.

I installed the latest Ubuntu Netbook on my Asus 1201PN as well. I noticed the headphones weren’t working!

Use the ALSA update script, it worked out of the box for me!

Looking into this, a thought has occurred to me – it might be the flash plugin that is the problem, not the video driver. I used the recommended restricted driver (run ‘jockey-gtk’ from a terminal to search for and install drivers). With this driver I can play 3d games fairly well – Supertuxkart @ 1368×766 full screen has no lag issues. Doing a bit of reading around flash HD content, it seems that it is a feature of Adobe’s new flash version (10.1).

So, my guess is that 3D acceleration is working fine, but the flash plugin doesn’t take advantage of it.

Hi,

could you tell me which nvidia driver you are using? … looks like my 1201pn doesn’t use the ion chip at all (f.e. watching the hd trailer of avatar in 1080p on youtube works on windows, but about 2fps on ubuntu 10.04).

if you could post a description how to get those things workig would be great.

Hey Mojo,

Very nice – once I’m back on the road will have to catch up and check it out (still recovering from being hit by a fuckwit doing a u-turn). I’m very interested to see what the engine will be like. I go premium with my fork preload spacers – 50 cent pieces.

What do you think of the Dunlop TT900 tyres? what sizes have you got on? I was thinking Dunlop GPR10 alpha’s, but not sure on sizes. a 110/80 on the front would fit nicely, but it seems they only have a 140/60 for the rear, which i think might be a bit wide and flat…

Hey Phil, Mojo here. Man, your SRX looks very similar to mine. Mine needs more power (Cam’s gonna lend me some Keihins) but I love it. It has Over (I think) pipes, Ohlins fully adjustable shocks, new progressive fork springs (with a stack of 20 cent pieces above them for extra preload…), Dunlop TT900 tyres (not pictured), old-skool Brit-style rear light, funky single seat and FZR250 clip ons (too-small and hammered on…) Check out –

Hi Frazer,

Can’t say I’ve ever tried alt-codes. With a quick test, I note that if num lock is on and I press “fn-u” i don’t get a character ‘u’, but rather a character ’4′. When num-lock is off, “fn-” combos act like a numeric keypad with numlock off.

Is this the behaviour you were referring to? I can’t say i’ve ever really used the numeric keypad, since it just seems so clumsy in this form!

hi, thanks for the review and the tips

can you type alt-codes? i cant get it to work

ie: with num-lock on alt-108 should produce a letter l

everything seems to be working for me except that and wireless(which I”ve ‘patched’ with the old driver)
